Our Science

Evidence first, every recipe

Nutridly doesn't guess. Every recommendation our engine makes is checked against established UK dietary guidance and a growing base of nutrition research, and we show you the reasoning, not just the recipe.

Nutrient-dense whole foods

UK dietary guidance

Our nutritional strategy engine is informed by NHS Eat Well guidance and the Eatwell Guide, the UK Government's model for a balanced diet, covering food groups, portion balance, and everyday eating principles. Nutridly is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NHS.

Functional optimisation bands

Where standard clinical reference ranges are wide, we apply tighter, functional target ranges for key biomarkers (e.g. ferritin, vitamin D, HDL, CRP), flagging values that sit outside optimal even when they're within the standard "normal" range.

Curated research base

We maintain a growing library of food-health relationships drawn from public health guidance and nutrition studies, each tagged to the biomarkers and health goals it's relevant to. When a match exists for your profile, the specific food and the evidence behind it are woven into your recipe justification.

Deterministic, not creative

Our analysis engine runs at zero temperature, the same inputs always produce the same nutritional strategy. Recipe generation has a little more room to vary for freshness, but the reasoning behind every recommendation stays consistent and traceable.

Trajectory-aware, not just a snapshot

When you retest, the engine doesn't only read your latest numbers, it compares them against your full result history. Each marker is classified as improving, stalling, worsening, or newly back in range, and the strategy adjusts accordingly: reinforcing what's working, changing approach where a marker isn't moving, and easing off once it's optimal. This weighs in how closely you've actually followed the plan, so the read stays honest.

Real nutrition data, not AI guesswork

The calorie, macro, and micronutrient values behind your plan aren't a language model's best guess. They're calculated from McCance and Widdowson's Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset (CoFID), the UK government's own food composition database, matched ingredient by ingredient against your recipes. A few common ingredients aren't in it, and where too little of a recipe can be matched we fall back to an estimate and label it as one, so you always know which figures are measured and which aren't. Micronutrients are never estimated.

Adapts to what you actually log

Mark a meal as cooked and we know, with a real date, what you ate that week, not just what the plan said. Where your logged meals ran low on a vitamin or mineral, the following week's recipes lean toward it. This only ever nudges recipe choices, it's a quiet signal from your own logging, not a claim about your results.

Full-spectrum, not just what's flagged

A blood panel usually tests a fraction of the roughly 28 vitamins and minerals your body needs, so a plan built only to react to flagged results has a blind spot exactly where nothing was tested. By default, weekly targets cover your full range against UK reference intakes, adjusted for age, sex, and life stage, with flagged deficiencies and goals still weighted above the rest. An honest opt-out exists on your profile for anyone who'd rather prioritise recipe variety instead.

Fresh, colourful whole foods

From evidence to your plate

Guidance and research only matter if they change what you eat. Nutridly translates each relevant finding into a specific food, paired for absorption and built into a recipe you'll actually cook, then shows the reasoning in your recipe justification, so you always know why a dish is on your plan.

What Nutridly doesn't do

Nutridly never diagnoses conditions or prescribes treatment. We highlight patterns in your data and suggest food-based approaches, always in support of, not instead of, guidance from your GP or a registered dietitian. Critical biomarker values are flagged with a clear prompt to speak to your GP.
